WENHAM, MA-The Gordon College theater production Growing Up Christian, an original ensemble-created work about growing up Christian in late 20th and early 21st century America, is one of six productions recently selected to perform and compete in the 2006 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival - Region I. Before announcing their final selections, festival judges considered over 100 college theatrical productions from the New England area - Region I (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine).

"We're honored and proud to be accepted into this festival, particularly with this fresh and original show," says Director, Jeff Miller. "We took a risk and moved away from the traditional plot structure typically seen on our stages and created something collaborative. This approach empowered our actors to share their personal stories on stage about growing up in a Christian home and the authenticity of those stories and the subjects addressed within them truly resonated with the audiences."

The six Region I productions will be performed at Fitchburg State College (2007 Festival Host College) and judged based on best theatrical performance. The selected production from that competition will move on to participate in the National Festival which will be held in April, 2007 in Washington, DC.
