Christian Ethics Author Lauren Winner Visits Gordon

WENHAM, MA-Gordon College recently welcomed Lauren Winner, highly acclaimed author of Mudhouse Sabbath, Girl Meets God, and most recently, Real Sex: The Naked Truth About Chastity, to speak on provocative subjects that include "Lies the Church Tells Us About Sex," and "Communal Sex: Or Why Your Neighbor Has Any Business Asking You What You Did Last Night." Winner also provided an informal discussion on "Writing The Naked Truth," followed by a book signing.

Winner grew up a member of the Jewish faith and converted to Christianity while in college. She has appeared on PBS's Religion & Ethics Newsweekly and has written for The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post Book World, Publishers Weekly, and Christianity Today. Her essays have been included in The Best Christian Writing 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006. Winner has degrees from Columbia and Cambridge universities and is currently completing her Ph.D. in  American religious history at Columbia University and teaching at Duke Divinity School. She lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her husband, Griff Gatewood.
