Gordon College Named One of America's Best Liberal Arts Colleges

WENHAM, MA-The 2007 edition of "America 's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report has listed Gordon College, a Christian college of the liberal arts and sciences in Wenham, Mass, among the nation's 160 best liberal arts colleges. Gordon is the only nationally ranked Christian College in New England and one of only seven Christian colleges in the C.C.C.U. (Council for Christian Colleges and Universities) ranked nation-wide. "Our heritage is deeply rooted in New England, but our students come from around the world," said R. Judson Carlberg, Ph.D., president of Gordon College. "During their four years here they will  travel and serve in all parts of the world to develop the global perspective, intellectual maturity and ethical and moral framework they need to prepare for life."U.S. News & World Report assesses hundreds of liberal arts colleges based on several key measures of quality including academic peer assessment, faculty resources, graduation and retention rate, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance. To be included among the final list, schools must emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the liberal arts. U.S. News & World Report's 2006 edition of "America 's Best Colleges" provides exclusive rankings of over 1,400 schools and provides helpful tips for college bound students. Of all categories ranked by this publication, the liberal arts listing is considered among the most competitive. Gordon has received constantly strong rankings within this category in recent years.
