Religion, Morality and Politics; The Barrington Annual Seminar Featuring Dr. Eric Gregory

WENHAM, MA - Eric Gregory, a professor at Princeton University, will speak at Gordon College on both Thursday, February 9 and Friday, February 10 as the keynote speaker for the 2006 Barrington Annual Seminar. His lecture is titled, "Religion, Morality and Politics-Thinking with Augustine" and is open to the public free of charge.

Dr. Gregory's teaching and research interests include religious and philosophical ethics, theology, political theory and the role of religion in public life. He is an alumnus of Harvard, was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, and holds a doctorate in religious studies from Yale University.

Gregory joined the Department of Religion at Princeton in 2001 and is completing a book tentatively titled, Politics and the Order of Love: An Augustinian Ethic of Democratic Citizenship. His article, "Augustine and Arendt on Love: New Dimensions for Religion and Liberalism Debates," appeared in the 2001 Journal of the Society of Christian Ethics. In 2004-2005, he was a visiting fellow at the Erasmus Institute for the University of Notre Dame.

The Barrington Annual Seminar was established to honor the name of Barrington College and its outstanding faculty, staff and administration.
