Blogging Elijah

Students in the Elijah Project, a year-long Gordon College honors program exploring the integration of faith and vocation, spend their summers in internships around the U.S. and all over the world. Here are several of their blogs:

Hannah Verschueren, a senior English major and biblical studies minor, visited and volunteered at three different sustainable agriculture farms from Ontario to Georgia and an urban garden project in Camden, New Jersey, to learn about how faith informs issues regarding food, farming and sustainability.

Jorge Rodriguez, a junior Pike Scholar with a major focus on political theology, was in Guatemala teaching theology (in Spanish!) to rural, mostly uneducated, pastors. He worked with AGAPE (an organization headed by the father of a Gordon student), which works to equip indigenous pastors and churches in remote areas of Guatemala with theological training, and help with community development.

Mallory Moench, a junior English major, interned in India at the Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission. The Mukti Mission serves the most vulnerable in Indian society: babies, girls, unwed or abandoned mothers, the elderly, and the mentally and physically challenged. Mallory used her skills to write for the organization, teach English, and help them with an archiving project.
