Dr. Doneski's Music Mania 2006; Registration Now Open

WENHAM, MA-Gordon College will host its annual music workshop for students prekindergarten through grade six on Saturday, March 25, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and Saturday, April 1, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Admission for the two-Saturday workshop is $35 per child and $20 for each additional sibling per family. Enrollment is now open and classes fill quickly.

In a continuing effort to instill music appreciation at an early age, Music Mania 2006 promises to increase knowledge in musical theatre, symphonic music, theory, world music and learning to listen-all presented in exciting and fun ways tailored especially for kids. The high-quality instruction of Gordon College faculty and music education students is exemplary. Students in grades four through six will also have the opportunity to take part in instrument ensembles, a voice class and a music composition-technology session. Enrolled participants' creativity and imagination will be encouraged.

Learning experiences will include The Art of Listening; Rhythmic Movement; World Music; and Composition. A closing program performance will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m. for parents and friends.

Music Mania Director Sandra Doneski is an Assistant Professor of Music at Gordon College where she teaches music education classes, music theory, and conducts the Gordon College Children's Choir. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Gordon College, a Master of Music Education from the Hartt School and recently completed a Ph.D. in music education from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford.

A master teacher, Dr. Doneski has taught K-12 general and choral music in both public and private schools. Her performing ensembles have received superior ratings at festivals throughout the United Sates and Canada. Dr. Doneski is the assistant director of the Children's Chorus Programs in the Preparatory School at the New England Conservatory of Music. As the director of the Singing Circle at NEC, she introduces children to the art of singing. In addition she is the director of the Youth Repertory Chorus, a performing ensemble designed for middle school students.
