Imagining China: The Current State of U.S. and China Relations In Historical Perspective

WENHAM, MA -Dr. Terrill Lautz, Vice President of the Henry Luce Foundation, will speak at Gordon College in a special East-West Institute Lecture on Wednesday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Phillips Recital Hall at Gordon College. The title of his lecture is "Imagining China: The Current State of U.S. and China Relations in Historical Perspective."

Dr. Terrill Lautz directs both the Asia and Henry R. Luce Programs for the Henry Luce Foundation in New York. He currently chairs the Yale-China Association's board of trustees and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Lautz has written about the American missionary movements and on relations between the United Sates and China. A graduate of Harvard College and Stanford University, Lautz lived in Taiwan as a teenager and served with the U.S. Army's Medical Service Corps. in Vietnam. He regularly travels to China and other parts of Asia, and has made one visit to North Korea.

The East-West Institute of International Studies seeks to enhance Gordon's contribution to the world community by encouraging greater cross-cultural and international understanding. This is done through interactions and services across geographic, ethnic, and racial boundaries. The Institute is a specialized, independently funded arm of Gordon's educational program devoted to furthering East-West relations and appreciation.
