An Update On Tropical Storm Irene

The latest from campus as of 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2011:

The strongest effects of Tropical Storm Irene have now passed through the Gordon College area. There was no loss of power during the storm and minimal tree damage on campus. As of this evening, we are no longer requiring those on campus to remain indoors, although caution should be exercised as conditions will remain windy through this evening. Campus buildings which do not normally require external staff will be open for normal Sunday evening hours. These include the A. J. Gordon Memorial Chapel, Lane Student Center, Phillips Music Center, Ken Olsen Science Center, and the Barrington Center for the Arts.

Jenks Library and the Bennett Center remain closed until the morning.

Gordon College will resume normal business and classes on Monday morning, August 29.
