WENHAM, MA—Every spring for the past five years, alumni student-athletes have been honored for their achievements while competing at Gordon College and Barrington College.

This year two Gordon College alumni and one Barrington College alumnus will be inducted into the Hall of Honor. Former Gordon student-athletes Norma Bailey ’62 of Elkton, Maryland, who played volleyball, basketball, and softball, and All-American soccer player Bobby Brooks ’89 of Manchester, Massachusetts, are being recognized for their achievements. Jim Sziksai ’69 of Asheville, North Carolina, who played basketball for Barrington College before the school merged with Gordon, will also be honored for his longstanding influence on college athletics.

The Hall of Honor induction ceremony will take place on April 30, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Ken Olsen Science Center on the Gordon College campus. It is sponsored in part by the Highlander Club, an organization of alumni athletes, parents and friends of the College that helps support current athletic programs while establishing a legacy of competition in the school’s Athletic Department. The Hall of Honor induction ceremony includes a catered dinner, special speeches and an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of many student-athletes.

“This is a great opportunity to recognize the achievements of some of our best student-athletes from the past, and to inspire new ones in the future,” said Jonathan Tymann, director of athletics. “The Highlander Club has been instrumental in supporting Gordon teams for years, and the athletes we are honoring are proof that support from alumni matters.”

The Hall of Honor dinner is open to the public but reservations are required. The cost is $35 per person. Please contact [email protected]. Or visit www.gordon.edu/athletics/hallofhonor.
