WENHAM, MA-Gordon College student, Brenda Sanya, will speak at the International Forum on Christian Higher Education in Dallas, Texas, on March 30. She is one of three student speakers from across the nation hand-picked to represent the student voice of Acting on A.I.D.S. - a program of the international relief organization World Vision. The Forum is sponsored by the Washington, D.C. based Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Sanya is a junior at Gordon with a double-major in both psychology and philosophy. She is a delegate to the Harvard National Model of the United Nations 2006, a participant in the Student Global A.I.D.S. campaign and a founding member of the Gordon College Fair Trade Coalition.

Sanya is internationally active in addressing the HIV/A.I.D.S. pandemic and is part of the Acting on A.I.D.S. group that meets on Gordon's campus. At the International Forum on Chrisitian Higher Education in Dallas, she will share some of her personal experiences working with HIV/A.I.D.S. victims and present findings from her research on the roots of the A.I.D.S. problem. She believes speaking at the conference is a tremendous opportunity to inspire national and international leaders of higher education to make a stronger contribution toward mitigating this worldwide health crisis. "I think that an educated view on prevention is important instead of just throwing money at people or telling them what they should avoid," Sanya says.

The CCCU is an association of 110 Christian colleges and universities, of which Gordon College is a leading member. The International Forum in Dallas runs through April 1.
