Date: 1892 - current; missing: 1895, 1898, 1900 - 1904, 1906, 1908, 1922.

Note: Some early Catalogs are available only as photocopies of originals.

Extent: 12.5 linear feet, including 9 boxes and over 70 bound volumes.

Creator: Gordon College. The current office reposible for publication of the Catalog is the Registrar's Office.

Access Restrictions: None. The Catalogs are open for public access.
Note: Duplicate copies of Catalogs beginning in 1914 are kept in Jenks Library.


SCOPE AND CONTENT


The Catalog is the annual print catalog of the College, used to promote the school and introduce the public to its mission, curriculum, culture and people. The Catalog includes lists of courses, faculty, staff, members of the Board of Trustees, descriptions of curriculum, honor societies, special programs, disciplinary policies, the school Statement of Faith and other general information. Older catalogs include lists of students and graduates by class. Typically, the Catalog is printed in anticipation of the school year it represents. For example, the Catalog for the 1955/56 school year was printed during the previous school year, in March 1955.

Although the school was founded in 1889, the first Catalog in the collection is for the 1891/92 school year. There are no known catalogs for the school's first two years. 


ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY

During the period 1907 - 1914, the Gordon School merged with and was a part of Newton Theological Institution. During these years, the Gordon catalog was included in a special section of the Newton catalogs, which are a part of this collection.

During its lifespan, the school has undergone several name changes, which are reflected in the Catalog and its title.
