Where did you grow up and what high school did you go to? I grew up in Fillmore, New York and attended Houghton Academy in Houghton, New York.
Who makes up your family and what was your favorite toy as a kid? James Wardwell ’89, Laura Wardwell, Olivia Wardwell and Aaron Wardwell ’14. My favorite toy was Dumpty, a stuffed egg.
Favorite superhero? Robin, because it is hard to be named after a quaint animal and be revered as a crime fighter.
In all your world traveling, where is the most unique place you’ve been? Orvieto, Italy
Favorite book? And what’s on your iPod right now? Franny and Zooey, by J.D. Salinger. And I’m currently listening to Delta Spirit and White Table.
Who do you respect the most? J. D. Salinger.
Favorite sport? Soccer.
And which is your favorite beach in the Gordon area? Plum Island Bird Sanctuary tops them all.
What’s your favorite thing to do on campus and where’s the best spot to get ice cream? I like attending faculty forums. Best ice cream is the holy roller at Captain Dusty’s.
Favorite class you took at Gordon? And why was Gordon the best fit for you? Advanced Creative Writing—it helped me to transform fiction writing for school work into a life love. Gordon helped me secure my position as a discerning Christian; not afraid of flavor and eager to become the salt of the earth.
Advice for high school students about college? Think of yourself as a sentence on a chalkboard: be prepared to be changed, and reshaped, but confident, clear, and bold.
