Finding a job

Once accepted students have set up their Gordon emails, they have access to the Student Employment page on the Go site which has more information about working on campus. They also can sign into the job board to begin searching for on and off-campus jobs. Students are encouraged to apply early as on-campus jobs are often filled by the end of the first day of classes. Our employment system is one that is entirely student-initiated. Students are responsible for finding their own job on-campus which suits their particular financial needs, schedule, and interests. Work-study recipients are not guaranteed a job nor have one reserved for them. It is not necessary to have received a federal work-study award to be able to work on campus. When looking for a job on-campus, students are encouraged to check the job board each day. However, we also encourage students to think about where their skills would best fit into a campus environment and then to inquire with that specific department about the possibility of job openings. Traditionally, the two departments that hire the greatest number of students are Physical Plant and Dining Services. Students are always encouraged to seek employment there. |

New Hire Paperwork
To be able to work on-campus, students must complete their new hire paperwork. To be able to do so, they need to present one of the following sets of documentation:
- Valid US Passport
- Social Security Card and Gordon ID
- Birth certificate and Gordon ID
- International passport, I-20, and I-94 or I-94A
- A voided check
- A direct deposit form from your bank (it must have your account number and routing number of the bank)
Searching Off-Campus
Finally, when applying for an off-campus job, students are urged to proceed with caution as we cannot verify the safety or validity of a particular job opportunity. If there is any hesitation, students should be in contact with the Student Employment Office immediately.
