The Political Studies Department

  • Examines politics from a perspective informed by Christian faith and traditions
  • Provides a comprehensive introduction to the study of politics
  • Offers majors in Political Studies and International Affairs (the latter in partnership with the Department of Economics and Business

COURSE OF STUDY
The department encourages students to understand their political responsibilities and take them seriously and to develop an intellectually coherent foundation for engaging the larger conversation in academia. Students complete courses in:

  • American politics
  • Comparative politics
  • International relations
  • Political theory

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Besides coursework, the department encourages you to undertake internships in a work setting. A wide range of local, national, and international internship opportunities are available.

THE GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
Students may also integrate study abroad into the political studies and international affairs majors. Choose from among many semester, year, short-term or summer abroad programs around the globe through the Global Education Office (GEO). Tuition for the programs is the same as a regular semester or year on campus. Check out some of the many opportunities:

Political studies is an analytical discipline focusing on clarity of thought and expression, both verbal and written-qualities that will prepare students for a range of professions within and beyond government and politics. These include but are not limited to:
