Kinesiology

The Department of Kinesiology will engage you in the process of discovering the wonders of human movement. Coupling theory with laboratory research and opportunities for clinical practice, the program provides background for a variety of post-baccaleurate programs including kinesiology, medicine, physician's assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy and nursing. EXERCISING KNOWLEDGE
The curriculum:

  • Emphasizes scientific inquiry skills and the mechanical, neurological and physiological bases of human movement.
  • Is broad and consistent with Gordon's liberal arts philosophy.
  • Includes the study of human movement from many perspectives, providing many choices as you consider possibilities for graduate study.

INTERNSHIP/CLINICAL OPPORTUNITIES
For those with particular professional interests, a variety of internship experiences are available in any field related to kinesiology (nursing, physical and occupational therapy, medicine, etc.). Students have been involved in diverse internships that include, but are not limited to:

  • Center for Balance, Mobility & Wellness (on site)
  • Harmeling Physical Therapy Clinic (on site)
  • Cardiac / pulmonary rehabilitation clinics
  • Corporate / commercial fitness (in and around Boston)
  • Occupational therapy clinics
  • Other physical therapy clinics
  • U.S. Army for Environmental Medicine

THE GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
Time to pack your bags and books…You can choose among many semester, year, short-term or summer abroad programs around the globe through the Global Education Office (GEO). Tuition for the programs is the same as a regular semester or year on campus.
